Cold chain is lost by handling far more often than by equipment failure. A well-specified van driven carelessly will spoil a load that a modest van driven properly would have carried without incident. Our driver training concentrates on the four habits that decide the outcome:
Pre-cooling before loading — never loading into a warm body, and knowing how long pull-down actually takes rather than guessing.
Stacking for airflow — leaving a gap at the rear wall so the air return is not blocked, which is the commonest cause of a warm spot in an otherwise cold van.
Door discipline — staging the load before opening, and keeping the door open in seconds rather than minutes when the ambient is above 45°C.
Excursion response — recognising temperature drift early, recording it, and escalating rather than hoping it corrects itself before the delivery.
