The short version of everything customers ask us about refrigerated van rental in Dubai in the UAE.
If you searched for a refrigerated van rather than a chiller or a freezer van, you are in the right place and probably have not fixed the configuration yet. That is the useful question, and it is worth answering before you compare quotes, because the two vehicles look identical from the kerb and price differently.
Al Sahara keeps refrigerated vans staged at a Dubai depot in both configurations. Every van arrives pulled down to your target temperature, logs the journey digitally, and meets Dubai Municipality cold-chain requirements for food transport. Hire runs daily, weekly or monthly, with or without a trained driver.
At a glance
Al Quoz — central kitchens, food manufacturers and cold stores. Our highest-frequency Dubai run, in both configurations.
Jebel Ali & JAFZA — import and re-export cargo moving between port cold stores, warehouses and customers. Gate-pass authorised.
Dubai Investments Park — food processing and distribution on daily chilled and frozen schedules.
Deira & Bur Dubai — restaurants, grocers and the old-town food trade, where access is tight and a van beats a truck outright.
Ras Al Khor & Al Aweer — the wholesale meat, fish and produce markets, served on early-morning cycles.
Dubai South & Expo City — event and aviation catering, and the newer logistics estates.
Two things decide the right van, and only one of them is weight. Cubic capacity often runs out before payload does — bakery goods, packaged produce and empty-return crates are bulky and light, so a high-roof body earns its keep even when the scales say a standard van would cope.
1-ton Hiace-class — the city workhorse. Agile enough for Deira and old Al Quoz, big enough for a full day of multi-drop deliveries. See the 1-ton Hiace chiller van.
High-roof body — noticeably more cubic capacity for the same footprint. The right call for bulky-light cargo. See the high-roof chiller van.
3-ton body — the largest van class before a truck makes more sense. Suits growing distribution routes.
Dual-compartment — a bulkhead splits chilled and frozen so one vehicle serves a mixed route.
A refrigerated van tops out around 3 tons. The practical test is not tonnage but repetition: if you are sending two vans over the same Dubai route on the same day, a refrigerated truck is almost certainly cheaper — one driver instead of two, one trip instead of two, and one temperature record instead of two that have to be reconciled at audit.
Against that, vans win decisively where access is tight or drops are many and small. Deira, Bur Dubai and the older parts of Al Quoz are van territory regardless of volume, because a 7-ton truck simply cannot work those streets efficiently.
If your cargo decision is already made, the temperature-specific pages carry more detail on each:
Chiller van rental in Dubai — 0°C to +8°C for fresh produce, dairy, flowers, bakery and pharmacy deliveries.
Freezer van rental in Dubai — -18°C to -25°C for frozen meat, seafood, ice cream and frozen ready meals.
National coverage, including the full chiller-versus-freezer comparison, is on our refrigerated van rental hub.
We quote each hire individually rather than publishing a rate card, because the same van costs very different amounts depending on how it is used. Send us these six and we will come back with a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within the hour:
Configuration — chilled, frozen, or dual-compartment.
Hire duration — daily, weekly or monthly. Longer terms drop the per-day rate sharply.
Vehicle size — 1-ton, high-roof, or 3-ton body.
Driver or self-drive — a trained driver adds to the rate; self-drive needs a licence and deposit.
Route and daily mileage — a fixed city route costs less to serve than scattered multi-drop work.
Start date — Ramadan, Eid and the summer peak book out early.
